NAIROBI Air Max 270 White Sale , Feb. 11 (Xinhua) -- Britain's double Olympic and world track champion, Mo Farah, has been invited to run during Saturday's IAAF Permit Kenya National Cross Country Championships in Nairobi.


Athletics Kenya (AK) deputy president in charge of logistics Air Max 270 Sale , Lt. Gen. (Rtd), Jack Tuwei, said on Tuesday that Farah and his British teammates who are currently preparing for the season in the northern town of Iten as well as Chinese nationals training at the same camp Cheap Nike Air Max 270 Teal , had been approached to participate in the annual event.


Tuwei also confirmed 12 foreign nationals had confirmed participation at the event where Kenya will select her team for the March 15 Africa Cross Country Championships in Kampala, Uganda.


"We have talked to them but they have not confirmed. Mo Farah will run the London Marathon in April and this would be a good preparation for him to do practise here," Tuwei said of inviting the British track star and his colleagues who are training in Iten and based at the Lornah Kiplagat Sports Academy.


"We have runners from many countries including China who are also welcome so that we make this an international event and give our runners competition. If they come Cheap Nike Air Max 270 Colorways , we shall only get to select a stronger team for Uganda," the official added.


"It will be an IAAF organised Permit Meeting and so far we have four countries that have confirmed with two from Ethiopia, two from Eritrea Cheap Nike Air Max 270 Blue , four from Uganda and four from Bahrain."


"We are still expecting one or two to come and run the Permit meet and the start list will be ready by tomorrow (Wednesday)," the deputy president affirmed.

Tuwei was speaking during the presentation of 139,211 U.S. dollars in sponsorship from Kenya Commercial Bank towards the domestic six-meet series that is now concluded and Saturday's showdown in Nairobi.


"We have information that international media will be present to see how their nationals fare during the event against our runners who are proven world beaters in cross country."


"We welcome them to train with our runners and it is up to us to step up our game since they are learning our methods and tactics," Tuwei remarked on whether the infiltration of foreign athletes in Kenya's training hot spots such as Iten and Eldoret was causing them concern.


Organizers will cater for all expenses incurred by foreign runners as part of fulfilling conditions for the event to be recognised as an IAAF Permit event.




CANBERRA， Feb. 19 (Xinhua) -- The Australian government has not ruled out working with Russia in the fight against the Islamic State (IS) group in the Middle East， the nation's defense minister said Sunday.


Following high-level international defense talks in Brussels last week， at which Australia's Defense Minister Marise Payne met with counterparts including U.S. Secretary of Defense James Mattis， the Australian government has said it would consider working with Russia to get a desirable outcome in war-torn Syria.


"Australia is willing to work with any nation that is willing to make a constructive contribution to the fight against (Islamic State)，" Payne told Fairfax Media on Sunday.


"As matters advance in Syria， these are matters the government will consider but I'm not going to make any further comment on that at the moment."


Australia has previously been hesitant to throw its support behind Russia's foray into the Middle East， but following the election of Donald Trump， the United States， Australia's closest ally， has indicated it was open to forming closer ties with the Kremlin to defeat IS.


Payne's comments came after Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull said he was also open to the idea of increasing Australia's presence in the region， if requested by Australia's military allies.


"(But) I should say that Australia already has one of the largest， if not the largest presence in the alliance against IS， other than the United States in foreign contributions，" Turnbull said Friday from New Zealand， where he met with counterpart Bill English.

VALLETTA， Feb. 1 (Xinhua) -- As the EU informal summit in Malta is to be held on Friday， a senior researcher at The Hague Institute for Global Justice has described the summit as "a moment of truth" for the EU27 bloc.


"The current challenges urge the EU to clearly define what kind of global actor it wishes to be， what values it stands for， and how it can defend its interests. The capacities are there， and perhaps now that political will follows as a necessity，" said Joris Larik.


The EU experienced a tumultuous year of 2016 dominated by terror attacks， migrant crisis and Brexit vote outcome， and began to face new challenges in the first month of 2017 amid new U.S. administration's unprecedented open hostility towards the European integration.


U.S. President Donald Trump openly encouraged the withdrawal of a EU member state and sowed disunity among the remaining ones， which represents a complete U-turn in U.S. policy towards Europe from the last 70 years， said Larik.


He referred to Trump's pronouncements that the UK was "so smart in getting out" and "other countries would leave." The U.S. president also called the EU "basically a vehicle for Germany."


"Its open hostility thus far towards the EU and European integration in general is unprecedented，" commented Larik.
